Openness:
The big brother to the nanostation, the powerstation runs OpenWRT kamikaze as well as the UBNT supplied AirOS. Since the nanostation is a similar platform, it should not take long for an OpenWRT port. It has a serial port pinned out, and a JTAG adaptor clearly marked on the board.
