Xircom was purchased by intel.

This is a small(ish) 802.11b card for any springboard enabled palm devices.

Tested on a Visor Pro, under Palm OS 3.5.2H2.0. Make sure you update to version 1.13 of the springboard driver (provided from intel), otherwise, you won't get very far.

It's really picky on the setup; you *must* enter a phone number, username & password when connecting on the wlan.

Neat stuff with this device:

It has a number of utilities loaded in a on-board flash chip. You can use the flash (1meg) for anything, provided you use a 'filemover' to get it there. You can also run applications (the springboard driver) directly from the flash.

Chipset:

The card says "wireless by cisco" on the back. FCCID: J30SWE1100. Xircom Model swe1100. Because it says '1100' on it, I'm thinking it's the same chipset as the Cisco 1100 card, Based on the IntersilPrism2 chipset. But that is just a theory.

Seems like an ok device, it's nice that it has it's own battery, so it won't kill the visors charge. They say it will last 2 hours.

Now to find good wireless apps for the palm OS... Anybody?

Update: Found info on the internal antenna, photos, etc. Looks like it's using the aironet chipset for a controller, and uses a MMCX internal connector. The internal antenna is a 2DBi folded dipole Rangestar #100902.

There's also a version of this product for Palm-branded PDAs like the m500, m505, and m515. It's called the Xircom PWE-1130.

TCP/IP software for Palm-powered devices can be found at PalmGear . Look under "Communications" on this page.

Note on personal usage, these things are terrible with most dhcp servers. ISC works, and the one built into most routers seem to work... Also VDHCP... Pretty much anything else though, and the address gets garbaged
