OpenWRT runs perfectly on the WBR-G54. Just compile the OpenWRT, start a TFTP-session and then power on your AirStation.

The external connector is a MC-Card connector as seen on Orinoco cards, if you open the case you'll find a minipci card, which has dual U.FL connectors. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, they are U.FL connectors as usually in mini-pci cards.

Does anyone know if you can set the minipci to only use 1 connector with OpenWRT?

Have anyone succeeded in changing the tx-power in OpenWRT?

No, it seems to be broken at least up to OpenWRT 2005/04/08. In that version, it is possible to set the power level using nvram or the wl command, but it does not have any effect on the actual tx power at least on my v2 hardware! Setting the power works fine with the ewrt 0.2 distribution, I tried it on a v2 hardware.

A few specs: Receive Sensitivity (dBm)
11g mode Transmit power is 25.1mw at 802.11g
54Mbps -69
48Mbps -72
36Mbps -77
24Mbps -81
18Mbps -85
12Mbps -87
9Mbps -88
6Mbps -88
11b mode Transmit power is 39.8mw at 802.11b
11Mbps -85
5.5Mbps -88
2Mbps -90
1Mbps -92

Q: Does sveasoft's WRT54G firmware work with the WBR-G54?
A: No, not yet. There is a forum thread about the Buffalo on Sveasoft: http://www.sveasoft.com/modules/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=15
