Le WAG54G est une solution « tout en un » proposant dans un boîtier unique
The WAG54G is an all-in-one solution in a single box. Babelfish or these links can translate.

Comments on the images
- The chip on the right is a SS3C2510 ADSL communication processor. With an ARM core. I don't think this thing is related to the WRT54G.
What is the (not fitted) socket between the phone socket and the ethernet sockets? I guess it could just be a filtered passthrough or something.
This thing isn't related to the WRT54G
For another look inside the box, see wireless.gumph.org 011-wag54g-insides.

31 Mai 2006 - RFC1323 with MacosX issue
I have upgraded my WAG54G (V1) with the firmware v1.02.9_04. Everything's fine, except that with my Mac (Macosx 10.4.6), I had TCP transfert issues (SMTP was failing after a couple of packets). I finally found that the WAG has a problem with TCP stacks supporting RFC1323 ( http://rfc.net/rfc1323.html TCP Extensions for High Performance), which is the case of MacosX. (For info, the problem was not appearing with other ADSL routers or with windows). Solution: Add in /etc/rc.local on the Mac (create it if it is missing) the following command:
sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.rfc1323=0
25 Nov 2005 - Reply to: New WAG54G Firmware v1.02.9_04
I've just upgraded my V.1.2 Linksys WAG54G Gateway with the above firmware, and apart from having to reset it using the reset button at the back to be able to access the settings using the wireless, it works fine. Pages seem to load a damn site (mind the pun) faster, and I find the gateway boots slightly quicker when I turn it on. I'm in the UK.

13 Sept 2005 - Firmware 1.02.09_04 - WAG54G v2
Works in Italy. Tested with tin.it I have 4 of these in the office too, that I want to use as Wireless Access Point only. I need to set up the subnet to 255.0.0.0 (not provided in the combo). Any hint?
31 July 2005 - WAG54Gv1 - Possible v1 Source Code release
Emailed Linksys today, as I have done a couple of times to see if they're going to release the source code for the v1. They haven't said no this time round but that they do not have an *exact* date on which Linksys will release the code.
It's probably just wording to shut me up, but nevertheless...

06 July 2005 - WAG54Gv2 - Open Source Project Started
An open source project has started for the WAG54Gv2
(Note: The v1 firmware isn't based on Linux, so there's no support for v1's in this project)
The project is at http://wiki.openwrt.org/AR7Port
Firmware is ADAM2.
22 May 2005 - WAG54GV1 Board Images
Here are some scans of the WAG54GV1's board.
14 April 2005 - WAG54GV2 Firmware Sources available
From linksysinfo.org:
An anonymous user just wrote in to let us know that Linksys has just made available the source code for the WAG54Gv2 firmware version 1.00.19. I hadn't noticed that this had not been released yet, but looks like someone has been on the lookout for it. If you're interested in taking a look at the source for the WAG54G, which combines an ADSL modem with a WRT54G, here' the place to do so.
You can find the download at the Linksys GPL Code Center, or get the download direct from Linksys as WAG54GV2_V1.00.19_GPL.tgz.
Now hopefully someone can make an alternate firmware for the WAG which actually works.
9 March 2005 - WAG54G Firmware v1.02.9_04
Tested in Australia. Status - could not get access to Internet.
Was able to ping the modem, the configuration web pages were accessible and the status page showed it was connected to the ISP. ipconfig showed DNS servers were registered. All firewall and other security options switched off. Hard reset applied i.e. hold the reset button in for 10 seconds. Could not ping www.google.com. It couldn't resolve the hostname.
Reloaded v1.02.5_xx (not sure what it is exactly) and it worked again imediately.
Tested successfully in UK (upgrade from 1.02.1 - no probs with upgrade, original settings are seemlessly imported). Seems to work best in MIXED WLAN mode. Quicker web interface and PPTP VPN works with Firewall enabled.
27 Feb 2005 - WAG54G Firmware - v1.03.0 beta 4 Annex A
- Beta firmware for the WAG54G v1.0-v1.2
- No changelog, however this version does seem to fix some issues.
- Annex A ONLY
Download from Linksys Info at module. TESTED and working on a Belgian Belgacom DSL Line (PPPoA is working but PPPOE is not working anymore). Wireless bugs are unfortunately still present.
29 Jan 2005 - WAG54G Firmware v1.02.9_04
There's a new version of the firmware up on the Linksys ftp site.
http://www.linksys.com/international/firmware.asp?intfwid=70&coid=19
or
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/international/firmware/WAG54G-AU_AnnexA_ETSI_v1.02.9_04_code.bin
AU = Australia. Leave a message if you have had success or not.
And again, no release notes!
What have users of firmware v1.02.9 noticed?
- The web interface is a lot faster!
- Single port forwarding now appears to be functional.
- DHCP via Wireless now works!
- IP Un-numbered is now an option.
- Modifications to port forwarding still requires a warm restart
- SNMP output still returns 0. SNMP input still works correctly
- Still overheats!
TESTED in Italy with NGI and it works!
TESTED in Italy with Libero ISP and it doesn't work
. everything seem okay (wireless connection, etc.) and you can obtain an internet connection too, but you can't reach websites
(I've tried to use ping to ...)
-Tonyz2qwa
TESTED in United Kingdom (PPPoA) on my WAG54G-UK and worked fine without any noticeable problem.
-Firefishy
TESTED in France (PPPoA & PPPoE) and works really fine (wanadoo 8mbps) ... in fact it works better than any other previous firmware i used before.
TESTED in the United Kingdom (pppoa) all good and well, until tried to set up wireless to manage router, then it wouldn't let me connect to Google or anything. Turned it off and works fine. Annoying as previous encarnations allowed management by wireless and internet access... oo.
TESTED in Switzerland, Bluewin 3500/300 okay (ADSL open pipe negotiated at 6400/600)
TESTED in United Kingdom (PPPoA) on my WAG54G-UK (1.2) with Bulldog. All working fine.
-Grimey
TESTED in UAE , WORKS GREAT (PPPoA) on my WAG54G-UK (1.2)
15 Jan 2005 - New hardware? - WAG54G v2
Update: Linksys now has a press release. It supports ADSL2+
There's mention of new hardware? --a WAG54G v.2?
See http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2149 Note: This hardware seems to run a different version of the firmware (v1.00.19).
* Many internal images in this Italian review of WAG54G V2 by Wireless-Italia, article 57.
The most interesting point is that it now runs Linux while the v.1 is running a non-Linux operating system. Hope some people will work on it soon
WAG54G Firmware Versions
The firmware can be download from Linksys @ ftp://linksys.com/international/firmware/
The unit appears to come with firmware v1.01.7 installed.
- If you need to go back to the origional firmware you can get it from linksys.
The latest "official" firmware from Linksys as of 12 November 2004 is v1.02.7_03
Release notes for v1.02.7_03 at Linksys as V1.02.6~ V201.02.7.doc.
Here's a list of "visual changes" to the Linksys WAG54G Firmware v1.02.7 that differ from v1.02.5
Added a "Management via Wireless" Option Under [Wireless - Advanced Wireless] menu - This allows Enabled & Disabled options
Added a "Allowed IP Address" options under the "Gateway Access" & SNMP sections of "Administration - Management" - Options are "All", "IP Addr." or "IP Range"
- "Administration - Reporting" - Log, can now configure all 4 octets of the the "Logviewer IP Address" Previously could only configure only the last octet.
Changes in the firmware v1.02.5_07 Note: This is the previous version.
The changes are as follows:
- Added: Backup/Restore function, AP Isolation function, new policy filter function, SNMPv2C support.
- Modified: Enlarge the IP range of Local/Remote Secure Group in VPN settings.
- Fixed: Linux nmap scanning issue.
- Fixed: Fragment issue on PPPoA mode with NAT disabled.
- Fixed: Single port forwarding failure if "External Port" is different from "Internal Port".
- Fixed: Intel UPnP tool not being able to scan the device.
- Fixed: Wireless clients not getting IP via DHCP Relay
- Fixed: PPTP passthrough issues.
- Fixed: Large files FTP in IPSec passthrough(UDP) will be disconnected.
NOTE: DynDNS function built into the firmware may not work properly with this version of firmware. If you experience difficulties, please use the client on the PC.
The DynDNS function is still being worked on, and a fix should be available in an upcoming release. Note this is the same release that some of you have downloaded from various sources, so if you are already running 1.02.5 there is no need to change to this version.
- More security options
- TKIP support
- AES now appears as a menu option--but displays a dialog, "Sorry, This firmware doesn't support AES yet."--when selected.
Things that haven't changed
- SNMP get of outgoing statistics on the DSL interface still doesn't work, though incoming stats work fine, eg. Multi-Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG) only sees incoming packets, not out going.
This may be a design feature, but it's very annoying
Everytime the configuration is changed, eg. a new firewall rule, port forwarding rule, etc. is changed or added, the DSL interface restarts, i.e., the interface drops and then reconnects the connection! This is a real pain.
There's a "rumour" that the v.2.x firmware will run Linux.
- If this is true, this will make a lot of users very happy! Here's hoping that the unit will be similar to the WRT54G from Linksys--what more could you ask for? But there's no proof that v.2.x firmware will be Linux-based yet.
(Is anyone able to confirm this?) -> Have a look at this thread, but no trace (yet) of the source code on the Linksys website! As of 2005.04.13, the source code for this v2 is available, have a look at Linksys GPL.
Questions and Answers
What is the difference between Annex A, Annex B, etc?
A: Annex refers to a section in the back of the ITU's ADSL DMT standard (G.992.1), also known as G.DMT:
- Annex A is ADSL over baseband POTS.
- Annex B is ADSL over ISDN.
- Annex C is ADSL over japanese ISDN.
See http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=205861 for more info on the WAG54G firmware.
Questions, Open
Anybody know if this runs Linux?
There's no mention of the GPL source on the LinkSys GPL page. A: NO! It does not run Linux
(But there are rumors that the v2.x firmware release will be Linux-based.)
Can anyone confirm the rumour?
Where'd the info come from?
A: One source, read between the lines:
