Perspective: This is a pretty neat device. It has 16 SlottedWaveguide antennas in an array and 12 radios. It runs linux and operates as both access point and switch. They claim penetration through glass buildings up to a mile with no external antenna on the client. Cost is $9000 for the indoor model. Pricing on the outdoor model has not been announced.
We got to check one of these out at the FreeNetworks wireless summit held in San Francisco. It definitely gives good signal, but we didn't do any real distance tests. I was able to get on from the courtyard in the marriot hotel completely off axis and down a floor behind a staircase, etc...
