Describe TexasInstruments here.
Texas Instruments is a chip manufacturer which won't release programming information for their ACX100 chipset
.
Come on TI, get with the program and support Linux and the Open Source community!
TI also does not want to release any programming information regarding their 802.11a/b/g TNETW1130 / TNET1130 (ACX111) chipset. Only OEMs who manufacture devices based on their chipsets get minor information and support in the form of a development kit for Microsoft Windows drivers while they have to sign a NDA. Although TI claims it supports Linux and even advertizes that their chipsets are also built with Linux in mind, TI for years now lacks support for Linux and does not even want to explain why.
Could maybe someone provide some contact information on TI where we could ask for support? I was told that they would release a binary driver for their TNETW1130 chipset somewhere in December 2003, but I haven't heard more about this yet.

Open Source drivers exist, see SourceForge acx100.
Their advertized WPA support for their line of 802.11g client cards has still not arrived [winter '05 or earlier], even though WPA has been around for a while. Their support page, which used to claim a new driver supporting WPA in February 2004, states, as of April 1, that a driver will be available soon. Many people purchased these cards hoping for the advertised WPA support, and they aren't receiving it.
