This is the type of service offered by the node. It is important to know that just because a node is listed as allowing internet access, that doesn't mean you can do everything. Some nodes have unlimited internet access, limited internet access, firewalled internet access, etcetera. For example, the normal ftp port 21 may be allowed, but other port numbers are firewalled out, thus making ftp sites inaccessible if they use any other than port 21.
Codes used are:
- U --- Unlimited internet access with all port numbers available
- L --- Limited internet access (typically just http and ftp port 21 available)
More codes certainly could be used as some nodes have a variation of unlimited internet access in that http, ftp, irc, usenet, time, bittorrent, gnutella, and other services available. Some nodes allow basic irc but no irc server upload access. Etcetera.
