A GeekRave is a party for techies. Not a real rave, but we have dancing, music, playrooms, and prizes. We had about a dozen people up from Seattle last time. This time we're going to throw open our wireless network (802.11, using "Airport" technology) to the guests. We also hope to have some demonstrations of local wireless companies at the next one: February 2nd, 2001 at the Commodore Ballroom in downtown Vancouver. Bring your laptop dancers! More info at the web site: http://www.geekrave.org --

UPDATE: February Party was a huge success, sold out three days before (although there were tickets at the door for latecomers), and great music. Wireless was featured extensively:

WiLAN 2.4Ghz 4mbps radio link to the club from a nearby backbone internet provider (Group Telecom) Apple Airport (802.11b) inside the club for a roving powerbook and camera Metricom base station and Sierra Wireless cards for roving PDAs

UPDATE: September 21st is GeekRave 4.0... in Vancouver at Science World. See you there.
