I and another lister are planning to fly an airplane and helicopter above Seattle on fgield day to test some wireless networking! Could be some interesting opportunities for the first air to air to ground link. Streaming video, UT, etc. The group needs to let us know how we can best serve field day needs with air support! Also, since we will be pilots responsible for the safety of the flight, we will need several volunteers to fly with us, bring the equipment, and do the actual wireless networking. Specifically we will need patch antennas and laptops with cards, etc. We can build an entire network in my plane and I have an inverter that will supply AC. It should be a lot of fun!
I was thinking of flying the plane at 5,000 - 10,000 ft in an orbit over Seattle for some distance testing, the helicopter is better suited for low level flight. We plan to be in the air for a little less than two hours starting at 11 am.
Anyone interesting in coming along with equipment please email ASAP, sorry but weight can be an issue so I will have to ask. Any ideas on what to do with this?

For those that are curious, here is the plan for Wireless Field day in the air:
We will be flying both an airplane and helicopter.
- I have received special permission from air traffic control to orbit Elliott bay from 11 am to 1pm at 4000-10,000 ft. This was a special request because we will be directly in the path of Sea Tac air traffic. I will be talking to Seattle Approach on 120.4 (VHF) during most of the flight. The passenegers will be communication with the helicopter on 122.75 or 122.65. The aircraft call sign is Bonanza 5894S. We will communicate with the ground on FRS channel 27, or ham radio 146.52. Our Network will be named Pie in the sky and the IP will be 10.0.0.x. A web server will be running on 10.0.0.3 with updated pics etc. We will attempt to connect with the gound with chat on the seattle wireless IRC channel. We will also try some wireless gaming and streaming audio both air to air and air to ground.
The helicopter will be flying low level over both ground sites and over seattle in general.
