Purpose
SeattleWireless nodes running captive portals (like NoCatAuth) should consider presenting a unified style for their splash pages. A unified style and standard AcceptableUsePolicy will inform users of our network the appropriate rules while on the network. It may also help with any possible legal concerns of abuse of or over our network.
PersonalTelco has already designed their own NodeSplashPages for NoCatAuth on their network. Check their's for a good reference and starting point.
Links to proposed splash pages should be linked under the "Proposals" section. Once a proposal has been accepted a new "official" (or similar) section should be added with a link to static versions of the official template.
Suggested Guidelines
- Page should be low graphic and look good in any browser on any platform.
- Navigation should be simple and obvious.
An AcceptableUsePolicy should be included, with FreeNetworks:AupTos used as a reference point.
An area for common SeattleWireless Network links should be included. This could link to things like general network annoucements, the SW wiki, network status, etc.
An area for node specific links should be included for thinks like NodeStatus and services available.
- Others?
Proposals
The current default NoCat splash page has a 'skip' option. I'd prefer that we make users create a login. Comments?
