The goal of NoCat is to provide a mechanism for creating multiple classes of service for cooperative wireless networking.

The three major components of the network are:

NoCatAuth is the authenication services (or, the captive portal) developed to fit those needs. NoCatAuth redirects new users on the wireless network to a login page, and will then be granted access to the network once authenticated.

A detailed article about how NoCatAuth works, written by the author RobFlickenger himself, can be found on the O'Reilly Network website. Also please consult the the Guide on the NoCatAuth project wiki.

More info at http://nocat.net/nocatrfc.txt

NoCatAuth is written in Perl, and will soon be replaced by NoCatSplash, written in C.

Keegan Quinn had kindly made some Debian packages of NoCatAuth. They are available at the following sources.
