Software
Version 4.0
This release does not support Windows 98SE or Windows ME! Use previous driver release if you have these operating systems!
Supports Windows 2000 and XP SP1 and XP SP2 only. For Windows 2000, please make sure you have installed the most current Windows updates.
What's New
- Added support for WMM and WPA2.
Known Issues and Limitations
- If Windows XP Service Pack is lower than SP1, advanced security is grayed out and cannot be configured.
When AutoCell is enabled, eXtended Range (XR) function is disabled.
- WMM can be enabled on W2K, XP SP1, and XP SP2. It means our utility allows user to enable this function in the driver portion. However, only in XP SP2 there is an application in upper layer to support packet priority and leverage WMM support on driver portion. In other OS, user has to install upper layer application.
Version 3.1
Supports Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.
What's New
- Fixed issue connecting to access points that use Broadcom chipset and with access control list enabled.
- Fixed wireless noise issue.
Allow enable/disable AutoCell without restarting computer.
Known Issues and Limitations
- When connecting to NETGEAR ME102, after changing from WEP to no WEP or from no WEP to WEP, the ME102 needs to be rebooted for the WAG511 to reconnect.
- When using WPA (TLS/PEAP) or 802.1X (TLS/PEAP) under Windows XP, user must remove DNE (Deterministic Network Enhancer) service first or upgrade to Service Pack 2 (SP2).
- In Ad-Hoc (IBSS) mode, cannot change channel in 802.11a. The channel selection is automatic.
Version 3.0
Supports Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.
What's New
Adds AutoCell features.
Known Issues and Limitations
When AutoCell is enabled, Power Saving and Transmit Power under Advanced Settings are grayed-out since AutoCell is controlling transmit power.
When AutoCell is enabled, Ad-Hoc (IBSS) mode is not supported.
Version 2.4
Supports Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.
What's New - Driver
- Changed driver version from 3.1.1.154 to 3.1.1.354.
- Fixed Bug 104 - The DUT (client) took time to make a connection with AP if the security mode between "No key" and "WPA-PSK" was switched and the "Super" mode was enabled.
- Corrected copyright string.
What's New - Installation file (Inf)
- Corrected driver version date.
Add a Windows Registry key "disableTurboG" and set it to 0 on RegEdit. Fixes issue: cannot scan static Turbo mode AP with WAG511v1 Turbo G function.
What's New - InstallShield
- Remove few registry keys remained after uninstallation and libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in directory "c:\windows\system32\oobe\html\omeveg\bin" for NETGEAR's requirement.
When AUTORUN program is executed under user mode on Windows XP or 2000, a message is displayed to inform user installation requires administrator privileges. Then the program will not launch InstallShield setup.exe to avoid an error message "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. Class not registered"
After using InstallShield to install driver and UI, WAG511v1 card doesn't need to be unplug & replug again.
What's New - Smart Wizard Utility
- The WAG511v1 card can be recognized in Windows XP and 2000 when the card is plugged in.
- The WAG511v1 card can be displayed as the Selected Adapter when installed on Windows XP and 2000 client PCs.
- When the WAG511v1 card is installed in a Windows XP and 2000 client PC, the Transmit Power and Power Saving mode settings can be disabled.
The WAG511v1 card in a Windows XP or 2000 client PC will not run AutoCell after AutoCell is disabled and the client PC is restarted.
Version 2.2
Supports Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.
What's New
WPA security driver was updated (MeetingHouse updated to 2.3.1.9).
